Manufacturers' Races Are So BO-OR-ORING

My game log, tm-30 keeps growing. I did manage to win all the GT League and Special Event races without entering any event twice, and also without selling non-redundant prize cars. Because I had been collecting historical cars as well, I needed to sell the Speed 12 in order to get Cr2,000,000 to do Pike's Peak. I was surprised when I found that the Escudo ghost in the Rally section is actually no faster than the Cultus ghost, even though I find the Escudo much easier to go fast with. The garage is essentially full.

Anyway, after doing all the GT League, Special Event, Enduros, and Rally Events, that left all those stupid little manufacturers' races you find under the Events button at many Manufacturers' Dealership screens.

Cribbed from GameShark Gabe, but extensively modified in format, here is a list of all of them:

In fact, these are useful charts for keeping track of your progress. I am going to put them in my results_forms page. "N" "U", and "P" stand for "New", "Used" and "Prize" respectively, and stand for where you can or must find the car. I might get it entirely filled in some time. The important ones are ones where "N" is not available, but you must either find the car used, or win it as a prize. All such prizes seem to be deterministic (in fact, I think the Tuscan may be the only one you can only get by winning). With the used cars however, you may find no such car in the lot when you look. 8-(

Note that an additional aggravation is that very often prizes which it seems would be eligible are not. For example, the Mine's R34 Skyline GT-R cannot enter the R34 Race 8-( (although it can enter the GT-R Race!?!?!).

If you're having trouble completing the races, I have noticed that buying merely supersoft tires, and the second level of power improvement for the car is usually more than adequate. If the car has a racing category as well, then I also do Weight Reduction 3 (since that is necessary to do Racing Modification in GT2), but if it doesn't I don't bother. In GT1 it seemed to me that Weight Reduction 3 often necessitated a better suspension, but either I'm a better driver now, or that principle does not hold in GT2. The cars seem perfectly adequate to beat their pitiful competion with better tires and a little power alone. You get a lot of unfamiliar reverse tracks in the Manufacturers' Races--Rome ii and Seattle Short ii seem to be favourites. If it were not for that I might go with even cheaper modifications. But I just want to get the silly things done. When I run out of cash, I win Stars/RedRock with the [R]Denso Sard Supra, to bankroll a few more cars.

I have recently made a few improvements to the prototype gear chart maybe you'd like to try it (again). Hmm. I still wonder if anyone will be able to figure it out.

I was hoping to find an explanation for BO-OR-ORING. It was made famous (to me, anyway) by JoAnne Worley on the late 1960's television series Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In. But an AltaVista search for "JoAnne Worley" did not show anything obviously interesting. It did seem to show something possibly interesting at www.bobdenver.com, but that DNS entry appears to be defunct. Ah, here we go...

Try http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/Stage/2125/index.html (Sorry it brings up an Ad window for you 8-()

That whimps out and sends you to http://us.imdb.com/Name?Worley,+Jo+Anne
