As I demonstrated in previous entries, I created a GameShark Code for GT2 which causes you to win as prize cars hybrids constructed from your garage. These codes can only possibly work for GameShark Version 3.00 or higher, because they depend upon a special instruction implemented only those versions of game enhancer cartridges. |
This last version is just a tweak of the previous one. It uses nine garage entries to contribute to the hybrid, rather than just six. |
The first version is for the original 1.0 North American version of GT2: |
C21CCFB8 0008 -- slot #1, most things (car + colour) (1.0) 101D502C 0000 C21CCFC4 0008 -- slot #1, brakes,ctlr,L+W+H 101D5038 0000 C21CCFCE 0004 -- slot #1, drivetrain, transmission 101D5042 0000 C21CCFD4 0002 -- slot #1, differential 101D5048 0000 C21CCFFA 0018 -- slot #1, many settings 101D506E 0000 C21CD02E 002E -- slot #1, remainder to end 101D50A2 0000 C21CD070 0002 -- slot #2, engine 101D5040 0000 C21CD122 0002 -- slot #3, weight reduction 101D504E 0000 C21CD1C8 0002 -- slot #4, race modification 101D5050 0000 C21CD1FE 0002 -- slot #4, down force setting 101D5086 0000 C21CD26E 000A -- slot #5, engine mods 101D5052 0000 C21CD31C 0010 -- slot #6, turbo plus some running gear 101D505C 0000 C21CD348 0006 -- slot #6, turbo gauge and sound 101D5088 0000 C21CD3AA 0002 -- slot #7, suspension 101D5046 0000 C21CD3F2 0014 -- slot #7, suspension settings 101D508E 0000 C21CD452 0004 -- slot #8, F+R tires 101D504A 0000 C21CD4E0 0004 -- slot #9, wheels (rims) 101D5034 0000 C21CD518 0002 101D506C 0000 |
I have worked extensively with this 1.0 code. |
I have not actually tested any of the other versions, yet. I would expect them to work, and would not be greatly afraid to try them--I just have not got around to it. |
For North American Version 1.1: |

For PAL version (should work, based on the known offset): |

For Japanese version (I've seen this offset, but it would be nice if someone could test it--be warned) To wit, I actually had an incorrect version here for a number of days. I've corrected it now. Strangely I had used the correct offset for all previous Japanese versions: |
C21CD9B8 0008 -- slot #1, most things (car + colour) 101D5A2C 0000 C21CD9C4 0008 -- slot #1, brakes,ctlr,L+W+H 101D5A38 0000 C21CD9CE 0004 -- slot #1, drivetrain, transmission 101D5A42 0000 C21CD9D4 0002 -- slot #1, differential 101D5A48 0000 C21CD9FA 0018 -- slot #1, many settings 101D5A6E 0000 C21CDA2E 002E -- slot #1, remainder to end 101D5AA2 0000 C21CDA70 0002 -- slot #2, engine 101D5A40 0000 C21CDB22 0002 -- slot #3, weight reduction 101D5A4E 0000 C21CDBC8 0002 -- slot #4, race modification 101D5A50 0000 C21CDBFE 0002 -- slot #4, down force setting 101D5A86 0000 C21CDC6E 000A -- slot #5, engine mods 101D5A52 0000 C21CDD1C 0010 -- slot #6, turbo plus some running gear 101D5A5C 0000 C21CDD48 0006 -- slot #6, turbo gauge and sound 101D5A88 0000 C21CDDAA 0002 -- slot #7, suspension 101D5A46 0000 C21CDDF2 0014 -- slot #7, suspension settings 101D5A8E 0000 C21CDE52 0004 -- slot #8, F+R tires 101D5A4A 0000 C21CDEE0 0004 -- slot #9, wheels (rims) 101D5A34 0000 C21CDF18 0002 101D5A6C 0000 |
So this is actually the code I wanted!!! |
With the code active, arrange that nine cars you want to combine, as indicated, are at the top of your garage. Often you want to have duplicate copies of cars if there are only certain things you want to combine. In an extreme case, you might put eight copies of a BMW in the first eight slots, and put a car with nice after-market rims in the ninth slot, and then your prize will be the BMW fitted with the custom rims. |
There are still some common hybrid operations you cannot do with this, such as setting your own gear ratios, or changing the drivetrain. But this is a good way to try out basic parts and ideas, try to debug problems without having to manipulate the shark and hex codes in its memory editor. |
A caveat applies to all these codes. I think they strain the limits of the GameShark, and about once every 20 or so attempts, I get a dreaded No Name No Name car instead of the desired hybrid. Often this happens twice in a row, and then tends to clear up. I think it is a timing problem, aggravated perhaps by the length of my code, or, perhaps, I think I heard once, by the fact I have so many codes now for Gran Turismo 2, even though most of them are not active. |
