Not Much Luck Reviving My GT1 v1.0 disk

Well, today I went a little nuts trying to see if I could fix up that GT1 version 1.0 disk which works in simulation mode only.

As a fall-back, I bought the other old GT1 from the same store, but that turned out to be version 1.1, so that simple solution was not to work. (Also, that disk is not in perfect condition either; the music tracks are noisy).

I also bought two different CD repair kits. One is like a sort of grinder wheel which scrubs the CD with a rubbery wheel. The better one was cheaper, and made by Maxell. It includes a nice platform for holding the CD upside-down, and a scratch repairer formula, and a polisher formula.

Repeated use of both these kits did not make Arcade Mode show any signs of working. But it did make Simulation Mode work a lot more reliably and quickly.

The disk still shows lots of visible scratches, but is in general much smoother and shinier--almost new-looking at some angles. One or two of the scratches are circular and deep, and I suspect one of those is the cause of the trouble.
