In Supra Game, [R]Supra '95 RZ Does Reasonably Well in Grand Valley 300

In the supra game (Maybe here) I used the 1995 Toyota Supra RZ as much as possible, so I entered the Grand Valley 300 with the race-mod version; this was the last race left to do in "the game".

It did very well, but not quite as well as I thought it would.

   Game: supra
   Day: 99
   Date: April 16, 2001
Race: Grand Valley 300KM Endurance Race
   Car: Toyota [R]Supra '95 RZ
   Qualified: 1st(+4.506) 1:39.976new
   Result: 1st
   Money: Cr300,000
   Prize-Car: black/green Castrol Supra GT

   Results:

   1st:* [R]Supra '95 RZ 1-35:13.1new
   2nd: [R]GTO twinturbo +411.234 (1-42:04.3) 4 laps
   3rd: [R]NSX-R LM GT2 +413.924 (1-42:07.0) 4 laps

   5th: [R]Primera'90 2.0Te +519.935 (1-43:53.0) 5 laps
   6th: [R]Lantis TypeR +778.429 (1-48:11.5) 8 laps

   Pits: 12,24,36,48
   fl(27): 1:29.686new

   lap 1 1:42.788
   slowest non-pit (60) 1:37.597
             next (47) 1:36.380
   fastest pit laps (48in) 1:52.202
                      (13out) 1:38.460
   slowest pit laps (24in) 1:55.184
                      (37out) 1:42.097

My fastest lap during pre-race practice was 1:31.332, a mark I broke several times during the actual race.

I had a not great start, losing a bit of control as I attempted to negotiate the first hairpin in proximity to the first three AI cars. I didn't spin out, but did end up in the kitty litter, and had to ease my way back on course and had to catch up.

As not infrequently happens in this race, the NSX wiped out on the first lap on the run between the first and second hairpins. My car easily regained first place before the end of the first lap.

On lap 8 I lapped the Lantis, and had just lapped the Primera by my first stop on lap 12. Before the next stop (probably on lap 15) I lapped the entire field, passing the big guns while they were in the pits, and so had a very big lead.

When I took my second stop on lap 24 the Lantis pulled in at the same time.

The race proceeded uneventfully from then, and, somehow, although I saw all three other cars, the GTO and the NSX were always in the pits when I lapped them.

On lap 57, however I lapped them one last time, as they pulled out of the pits just a little bit ahead of me.

My lap times slowed somewhat toward the end of the race. My time was pretty good. It was slightly better than I had done with the two Griffiths, about the same as I managed with the GTO twinturbo and almost as good as the Nismo 400R time. However, I had hoped to do about 1:30 better.

I had quite a few off-road trips and partial spins during the race but no real spin-outs or other extremely time-consuming disasters.

I won Cr300,000, and a black/green Castrol Supra GT.

Once again, for your analytical enjoyment, I here present all 60 lap times...
